Khursheed Sabeel is a PhD researcher in Energy at Teesside University, working in lithium-ion battery modelling, intelligent battery management, and advanced energy systems. His research focuses on physics-based multiscale modelling to understand why and how mechanical vibration affects batteries, linking behaviour from material and particle scales to cell- and system-level performance. His work investigates the electrochemical, thermal, mechanical, and degradation mechanisms responsible for vibration-induced changes in battery performance, safety, and lifetime across a wide range of applications.
Khursheed completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with distinction. He has also contributed to projects funded by Innovate UK and the British Council, gaining experience in collaborative research, applied innovation, and industry-focused engineering.
His research has been presented at major engineering and energy conferences, and he has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in battery degradation and energy storage. He had also received the Teesside University Vice-Chancellor Award in recognition of his achievements.
The N-ZEEE funding enables Khursheed to present his research at specialist conference, build international collaborations, and engage with researchers and industry experts. These opportunities strengthen the wider impact of his work and support the development of safer, more reliable, and longer-lasting battery technologies.
